Job Description

DESCRIPTION The successful candidate will be part of an imbedded risk team assessing the performance and risk within the company's wholly owned Retail Power and Gas provider. The position will appeal to an individual that can balance the complexity of in-depth analysis with a customer-centric approach whose value-add comes through elevating client discussions to identifying customer needs. The position will appeal to an individual that thrives in a fast-paced team environment and is interested in contributing to achieving business results in a rapidly changing and challenging area of the energy business. The individual must exhibit the ability to understand business decisions in the context of economic, operational, and organizational constraints.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Gain understanding of the operational objectives of the Energy's retail business in order to support IT solutions for implementation of new retail, electric deal capture system (Lodestar).
  • Interpret table structures and work within Risk team to implement reports/queries/controls which enforce risk levels outlined within the Risk Control Policy approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Provide potential solutions for automation of daily tasks such as uploads of the Daily Natural Gas and Basis market settle price in the transaction systems for marking forward positions and settlements, distribution of daily reports, updating Gas info in Legacy system, and reconciliation reports.
  • Ensure accurate wholesale/retail deal capture in all transaction systems.
  • Manage end to end deal confirmation process for Hedge Transactions.
  • Review and approve cost calculation and revenue estimate submissions for month end close to Retail Accounting.
  • Ensure all documentation and processes are in compliance with the Management Model in order to maintain satisfactory audit ratings and routinely audit executed trades and contracts.
  • Ensure controls are in place for daily operational activities of the retail business.
  • Interact daily with front and Back Office and support other control functions within the company including the Credit, Legal, - Billing, Corporate Finance, Treasury and Risk Organizations.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years industry-specific experience in Accounting, Finance, Accounting Information Systems, or Risk Management
  • B.S. degree in Business, Accounting, MIS, Finance or Engineering/Technical area from an accredited four year university
  • Demonstrated IT skills in system implementations and/or report writing
  • Demonstrated organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills and a willingness to be ' hands-on' in problem solving
  • Proven skills in computer applications such a Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience and ability to manage analytical tools and systems. Ability to generate reports in various systems.
  • Ability to respond quickly and decisively in a fast changing environment.
  • Lodestar system experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with process automation and transformation efforts
  • Knowledge of wholesale and retail markets preferred
  • Working knowledge of electric and gas tariffs
  • Working knowledge of utility and RTO operating procedures
