Senior Engineer - Manufacturing Automation
Direct Hire/Perm

We are currently seeking an experience manufacturing professional to take on the role of Senior Automation Engineer. The main role of this position will be to plan, engineer and design automation systems for high-speed, high-volume automated and semi-automated production of medical devices.

Project planning activities include expense, capital, resource, dependencies, risk analysis and scheduling. This work will include the design of custom process automation machines, equipment, systems, devices, and fixtures to satisfy specific requirements.

The Senior Automation Engineer must possess and apply directly comprehensive technical knowledge of machine design engineering principles, practices, and procedures and will determine needs, perform and lead detailed engineering design activities to deliver them as functional machine solutions. This will require advanced planning, detailed conceptualization, detailed design, checking, and tolerance analysis for form, dimensional fit, and overall function.

Candidates with the appropriate education and experience will bring with them the following:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of ten years of experience in machine design, development, and engineering in small part, high speed manufacturing systems.
Solid background in manufacturing and machine shop capabilities.
Extensive knowledge and experience in CAD, AutoCAD and Solidworks.
Thorough understanding of strength of materials, kinematics and dynamics, vibration, fluid flow as well as plastic injection molding and metallic part assembly, bowl feeders, product handling, part transfer and fixturing, process tooling, pneumatics, cam devices, stepper/servo motors, drive systems, slide systems, sensor technologies and application, and machine control systems.
Experience successfully performing engineered designs for large scale projects and leading project teams.
Familiarity with Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing or other vigorous quality control programs is desirable.
Applicable ISO and FDA experience is highly desirable.
ANY previous manufacturing/automation experience in the MEDICAL DEVICE industry is highly desired.
